New York and Los Angeles

The mills of Italy and Europe, on a rail in the Garment District.

Renovazio is an American textile agency. Since 2005 we have carried Italian and European cloth to the design rooms that build with it, and stayed with the order from the first trial through to production.

The agency

Twenty years between the mill and the design room

Two showrooms, both holding the fabric collections and the accessories and trims collections in full, both open through the working week.

What we do

An agency is not a shop. It is the mill's hand in the room.

Six pieces of work, and they run into one another. A fabric that gets developed has usually been forecast first, and the yardage that follows is a manufacturing question before it is a shipping one.

Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

What the agency actually does

Development and sourcing sit at the middle of it. Everything else is either what happens before the cloth is chosen or what happens after it is.

Come and put a hand on it

Cloth does not photograph honestly. The weight, the drape and the way a finish takes the light are things you learn holding it, which is why both rooms keep the collections out on the rail rather than in a catalogue.

How it runs

From the brief to the bolt

Four steps, and a person on the end of each one. Nothing here is a portal or a ticket queue.

You tell us what the cloth has to do

End use first, not a reference photo. What it has to survive, how it should sit on the body, what season it lands in and roughly what volume follows.

We bring the qualities that answer it

From the collections on the rail where something already fits, and from the mills directly where it does not. You handle the cloth before anyone commits.

Sampling until the hand is right

Trials go back and forth with the mill. Weight, finish and colour get corrected against the real end use rather than against a mood board.

Yardage, and someone still answering the phone

The order goes through and we stay on it. A production question at week six reaches the same people who ran the development.

Before you call

Questions a design room actually asks

We are the American arm of the mills we represent. A design team tells us what it needs a fabric to do, and we bring the qualities that answer it, handle the sampling and the yardage, and stay with the order through to production. The mills stay in Italy and Europe. We are the part of them that sits in New York and Los Angeles.

No. Renovazio works with brands, design rooms and manufacturers, not retail customers. If you are looking for cut yardage for a personal project, a retail fabric store in the Garment District will serve you far better than we can.

Yes, and it is the only honest way to choose cloth. Both showrooms are open Monday to Friday, nine to five, and both hold the full fabric, accessories and trims collections on the rail. Call the office and we will set a time.

We carry Italian and European mills across the range, from classic suiting and shirting through to knitwear, denim and novelty. The specific portfolio moves season to season, so ask us for the current list rather than working from an old one.

We do. The two showrooms are where the cloth lives, but the agency covers the United States market and our team travels to design rooms. Call the New York office on (212) 764-2890 and we will arrange it.

That is fabric development, and it is a large part of the work. We take the brief back to the mill, run the trials, and refine the hand, weight and finish until it does what the collection needs it to do.

Representing Italian and European mills in the United States since 2005.

Bring us the brief. We will bring the cloth.

Renovazio works with brands, design rooms and manufacturers. If you are developing a fabric, sourcing for a season, or want to see what the Italian and European mills are doing this year, the rail is a phone call away.
